Summary
In this paper, for any Liouville number \(u\), it is shown that \(e\) and \(u\) are algebraically independent, where \(e\) is Euler's number -- the base of the natural logarithm. \par Reprint of the author's paper [Math. Z. 31, 729--732 (1930; JFM 56.0188.01)].
